Her nedenfor i den lange tekst er billeder fra det sidste kuld med vores tæve Bodilius Hyacinth Trunte Isolde.

Nu er hvalpene 8-9 uger, og Mickey er hentet hjem til Sjælland, hvor han er hund nr 2 sammen med sin næsten halv broder, ligeledes fra Kennel Bodilius.

Now Mickey is gone to Zealand, where is with a family, and he is dog No. 2. The other dog is also from Kenel Bodilius and almost his half brother.

Nu er hvalpene 8-9 uger, og Tony er afhentet - Han skal være på sjælland, hvor han er ansat i Slagelse Kommune som rottefanger.

Now the puppies are about 8-9 weeks, and Tony now lives in Zealand, where he is employed by Slagelse Kommune as rat-catcher.  

Vi har her i maj måned været hos dyrlægen for at han kan se, hvor dejlige vi er. Og som sædvanlig sagde han, at vi er dejlige og sunde og fine. Lige før vi skal til vores nye familier, så skal vi til dyrlægen igen for at få vores vaccinationer og sundhedsbog etc.

In May we have been to the vet, who as always said that we were very good, and very nice and healthy. We go and visit him again shortly before we are going to our new families. Then we receive our health certificate as well as our shots

Idag har vi fået vores ship indsat lige under huden. Der kom en mand fra Dansk Kennel Klub og gjorde det - det gjorde overhovedet ikke ondt, så nu kan vi scannes på alle scannere, så enhver kan se hvem vi tilhører.
Vi fik også vores stambøger, så nu er de klar.

Today we have been chipped by a man from Dansk Kennel Klub, so now we can easily be scanned, and everyone can see to whom we belong. It did not hurt at all.
We have also received our pedigree books, so now everything is in good order.

Hvad spiser vi egentlig?

Ja, hver morgen får vi jordbær yoghurt med lidt vand opvarmet fra microovnen (fra koldt vand, ikke varmt). Og det vil vi rigtig gerne blive ved med at spise altid. Det er hurtigt lavet og serveret, når vi nu er så sultne om morgenen.
Derefter får vi (ligeledes opløst i lidt vand) vores Eukanuba krummelummer. Dem til babyer er uvist af hvilken grund altid meget hårde. Derfor opløser vi dem lidt. I vandet kommer vi også en smule leverpostej(!) Dette for smagens skyld. Vores små næser kan sagtens vejre leverpostej - meget bedre end Eukanuba. Men ikke mere end bare for at give smag og duft, for vi lever ikke af leverpostej.
Det samme får vi om eftermiddagen - og om aftenen får vi igen Eukanuba men denne gang får vi tilsat Tun på dåse. Uhmmna, det er dejligt. Vi bruger den der med olie! For om kort tid skal vi til at have Omega 3 tabletter hver dag. Køb dem i Aldi, kr. 18 for 120 stk. Så er vi vant til olien.

Vi har frisk vand stående frit hele tiden - og drikker efter behov.

Every morning we eat strawberry yoghurt with a little water heated in the microwave. Easy and fast to serve, because we are hungry in the morning.
After that we get the Eukanuba puppy food (recommended for up to 12 months of age) softened also with a little water. We add, also for the attracting of smell and taste, a little of liver paste - only a very little portion for smell and taste -

Middle of day - the same - and at evenings we get our Eukanuba together with tunafish trunks (from tin with oil), thus enabling us to get our daily Omega 3 tablet later on. Cost very little - use the same as you do your the humans.

We have fresh water all the time standing, and we drink frequently.

The puppies spend a lot of time with children (our grandchildren). We want them to get used to children as early as possible.
Please remember to introduce the puppies to different people during the time before they are 16 weeks. This will make them much more acceptable to anything and anyone in their future life.
Introduce them to various things and doings and happenings as well.

Hvalpene bliver vant til børn. De bliver introduceret for mange børn (vore børnebørn bl.a.). Vi skal vænne hvalpene til at se så mange forskellige slagt mennesker som muligt i deres unge hvalpetid, især før de er 16 uger gamle. Dette gør dem i stand til at acceptere forskellige ting senere i deres voksne hundeliv i fremtiden.

Lad dem se så meget forskelligt som muligt, opleve så mange forskellige situationer som muligt.

Det er meget nemt for os nu at fare rundt, og vi er begyndt at lege med hinanden og opdage hinanden. Det er bare så dejligt at se deres små personligheder udvikle sig.

Det er nu vores kennel-forældre er begyndt at tage en masse videoer, som lægges på hjemesiden.

Nu kan vi selv gå ud og ind af kurven - vi er blevet rigtig gode til at gå på vores små spaghetti-ben. - Og så går vi udenfor kruven, når vi skal besørge! Det er flot.

Vi har læst på en amerikansk hjemmeside, at man kan få 'hjerte-puder': En pude med indbygget batteri og lille ting, der imiterer en hjertelyd. En fin ide, når man skal have den nye hvalp med hjem, hvor der ikke er hunde i forvejen. Vi har købt 2 stk. fra USA.

Why do dogs wag their tales????
Hvorfor logrer hunde med halen?

Hunden logrer med halen for at indikere, hvordan den har det. Hvordan halen er, har samme funktion som vores smil - der udtrykker en hel masse. Halen viser hundens mentale tilstand, dens sociale position - og ikke mindst dens intentioner. Det er også en hilsen.

Nogle siger, at hunde normalt begynder at logre, når de er 30 dage - og rekorden i denne artikel er 19 dage, men vore hvalpe plejer almindeligvis at begynde at logre omkring 18-19 dage.

De er bare så søde, når de stolper rundt på deres små spaghetti-ben og halen logrer!!

For dogs, the tail wag seems to have the same properties. A dog will wag its tail for a person or another dog. It may wag its tail for a cat, horse, mouse, or perhaps even a butterfly. But when the dog is by itself, it will not wag its tail to any lifeless thing. If you put a bowl of food down, the dog will wag its tail to express its gratitude to you.

It is something of a surprise to many people to learn that puppies don't wag their tails when they are very young. The youngest puppy I ever saw systematically wagging its tail was eighteen days old, and both the breeder and I agreed that this was quite unusual. Although there are some differences among the various breeds, the scientific data suggests that, on average, by thirty days of age, about half of all puppies are tail wagging, and the behavior is usually fully established by around forty nine days of age.

Today we have taken more pictures and uploaded them. The little ones have started moving about - not much - but a little. They are slowly sliding out of the basket - more gliiiiding than actually walking. They have started to stagger about a little. Still they only get mother's milk. In a couple of days we expect to start feeding them as well. First a little bit of strawberry yoghurt.
Yesterday their weight was between 900-1000 grams each.

Idag har vi taget flere billeder og lagt dom på nettet. De små babyer er begyndt at bevæge sig en lille smule - dog ikke ret meget. De er begyndt laaaangsomt at gliiiide udover kanten af kurven - mere glide end egentlig at gå. Men de er begyndt at dingle lidt rundt på små fede spaghetti-ben.
De får stadig ikke andet end modermælk. Om et par dage vil vi begynde at give dem mad. Først er det jordbær yoghurt.
Igår vejede de mellem 900 og 1000 gram hver. Følg vægten andetsteds på siden.

Today they have eyes for sure - but they do not always open them. It is a big world out there. We took some pictures of the babies up-close. See 'FOTO hvalpe NU'. 

Their weight is now between 700g (Gina) and 840g (Tony). They have gained weight - about 3-3½ times their won birth weight. And they are not 2 weeks old until tomorrow.
Amazing.

Idag har de fået øjne - men de har dem ikke altid åbne - det er dog også en stor verden der er derude.

Der er nogle nærbilleder af hvalpene. Se under 'FOTO hvalpe NU'.

Deres vægt ligger nu mellem 700-840 gram - og de har taget på ca 3-3½ gange deres fødselsvægt. Og de er først 2 uger gamle i morgen.

As you can see the little ones are putting on weight. Now they are today Friday 22nd April exactly 11 days old - and they have gained their weight 2-3 times already, more precise 2,09 to 2,89 times.

De små har nu taget godt på i vægt. Rent faktisk mellem 2 og 3 gange deres egen vægt har de taget på i løbet af de første 11 dage. Det er noget af en præstation for både mor og børn.

We continue a little about socializing:

You may ask:
How do you go about it, when you socialize the puppy????

SIMPLY:

 Make sure that each of the following events are pleasant and non-threatening. If your puppy's first experience with something is painful and frightening, you will be defeating your purpose. In fact, you will be creating a phobia that will often last a lifetime. It's better to go too slow and assure your puppy is not frightened or injured than to rush and force your pup to meet new things and people.

* Invite friends over to meet your pup. Include men, women, youngsters, oldsters, different ethnic backgrounds, etc.

* Invite friendly, healthy, vaccinated dogs, puppies and even cats to your home to meet and play with your new puppy. Take your puppy to the homes of these pets, preferably with dog-friendly cats.

But don't panic - use your comon sense. After all you get a puppy with good genes, and your breeder has already started the process of socializing .....

While you wait for your puppy to be ready for YOUR family, we take the opportunity to inform you about many different things. One of them is the SOCIALIZATION of the puppy.

Puppy Socialization Begins at Birth
Your puppy's mother will take several steps, out of instinct, to begin the puppy socialization process, as will his litter mates. Through these first family bonds, they will learn some obedience skills by being disciplined for wrong behavior. They'll also learn from basic social feedback, for example, how to avoid playing rough, and the basics of a leader-submission mentality.

The breeder then takes various steps in order to get your puppy used to the different kinds of stimulus and patterns that go on in a human household.

This extremely simple-minded creature, your puppy, needs to know that the socialization process continues in the new environment. In other words, start the instant they come home with you.

A puppy learns the most important habits of their personality, over the first few months of life, most importantly 8-14 weeks. During these first few months, you need to teach your puppy how to relate to those around them.

During that period, anything they get used to, anything that seems normal to them, is going to be easier to deal with for the rest of their life. So, things such as obedience training, how to deal with other animals and strangers, being outside and seeing the world - things like that - should be (must)  introduced early, within the first few months of their life.

Consequently it is very important that your puppy is not too old, when you get it home. These early weeks are an investment in your future together, you and your new member of the family.

Hyacinth calls (read: barks) at all hours - and wants us to come. When we come we cannot understand what is the matter. (We think: maybe the babies have fallen out or something) But the only problem is that the babies are not moving, because they are so fat and full of food that they can barely move, with their round little stomachs and their little sausage legs - Just lying there sleeping. She insists on them to eat all the time.
Those little babies don't miss anything!

Hyacinth kalder (læs: gør) på alle tider af døgnet - og vil have at vi kommer hen til kurven. Vi tror, at måske er hvalpene faldet ud - men nej: vi ser bare 4 små hvalpe med store runde maver og små pølseben liggende helt 'udmattet' af at spise. De ligger bare der og sover. Hun vil helst have at de spiser hele tiden.
De små hvalpe mangler slet ingenting!

The first week Hyacinth refuses to leave the basket. We have to 'serve food in bed' - and we almost have to carry her out in order for her to do her business. She is a very dedicated mother.

Den første uge nægter Hyacinth simpelthen at forlade kurven. Vi er nødt til at give hende mad på sengen. Og vi er næsten nødt til at bære hende ud, når hun skal besørge. Det må siges at være en moder med stort M.

We have given the puppies the following names from the English TV series 'THE BILL'.

Vi har navngivet hvalpene med navne fra TV serien 'LOV og UORDEN'.

We weigh the puppies every day in order for us to be sure that they gain weight. Elsewhere on the website you can follow this weight increase.
As you can see they all gain weight and are doing very well. They sleep probably 80% of the time.

Vi vejer hvalpene hver dag for at være sikker på, at de spiser nok og tager på i vægt. Andetsteds på hjemmesiden kan man følge denne vægtstigning.
Som man kan se tager de allesammen på - og de har det rigtigt fint. De sover nok 80% af tiden.

Hyacinth did everything herself: give birth, cut the navel string, lick them warm and dry - and start feeding them. She is a fantastic mother.
Now the time is 9 a.m. and we do not think that there are any more puppies.

Hyacinth gjorde alting selv: hele fødslen, at 'klippe' navlestrengen over, slikke dem varme og tørre, og derpå straks give dem mad. Hun er en fantastisk moder med stort M.

On cold days all 4 of them likes to lie by the fire, especially in the evening after a good long day.

Now there are 9 days before the birth, we believe. Bodilius Hyacinth Trunte Isolde is quite calm and her own self. She is digging for mice in the garden, but has started to rest a lot. Sleeps long hours in the morning etc.

Nu er der ca 9 dage til fødselen, tror vi. Bodilius Hyacinth Trunte er helt rolig, og helt sig selv. Hun graver efter mus i haven, og hun er begyndt at hvile sig noget mere - sover længe om morgenen etc.

Congratulations!

The grandmother, My Bonnie Ellis Malkepige - also known as Louise - is as usual going into a stage, where she wants puppies. It happens every time, there are puppies in the kennel. But she has retired years ago. She is now 11 years old, and still going strong.

The other dogs are not allowed to see the puppies, before around 3 weeks. We usually let the mother decide. And normally she does not want to see any other dogs before 3 weeks. After that all the ladies take part in the joy of bringing up the puppies. Grandmama usually also has milk for them, and the older sister is playing with them.

So today Louise has found her own puppy, which is being nursed properly. This is how we found them this morning.
